CASE STUDY - HOUSTON, TEXAS
New fixtures save apartment property 54% on monthly water/sewer bills
The Background
The multifamily property in Houston, Texas was built in 1978 and has a total of 436 apartment units. The property still had the original and inefficient plumbing fixtures – toilets, showerheads and aerators.
In 2016 & 2017, the water/sewer bills averaged $38,921 per month and the average monthly water consumption was over 3.77 million gallons.
The Solution
The owners contacted eConserve for a solution to significantly reduce water consumption and decrease the monthly water/sewer expense.
In May & June 2017, eConserve implemented its Retrofit Services. This water conservation service fixes all drips and leaks in each apartment unit and installs water-saving products.
The Results
In the five months after the completion of the water conservation solution, the results have been extremely positive.
The average monthly water consumption dropped from 3.77 million gallons of water to 1.74 million gallons of water, saving 2.03 million gallons of water for the environment.
The average water/sewer expense decreased from $38,921 per month to $18,096 per month, an incredible 54% financial savings.
